It’s Chilly Hilly Time, and the Books To Prisoners Team Needs Your Support!!!

A team of BTP volunteers will ride the Chilly Hilly bicycle ride again, this year on Sunday, February 28, to raise much-needed funds for postage. The ride is loads of fun: several hills (many people walk up them, so don’t be daunted by hill climbs) and usually great weather—clear and cold—with wonderful water views along the south end of the ride. The route circles Bainbridge Island in 33 miles (with a shortcut option of about 20 miles), visiting several parks where hot food and beverages are available. If you’ve got a bike and a helmet, come along for the fun!

You can help with this worthy fund-raising project in one of three ways, and this year, one of our generous funding foundations will match your pledge 2 to 1—that’s right! If you pledge $1 per mile to a Chilly Hilly rider for BTP, your pledge will actually provide $3 per mile! Here’s how:

1) Ride the Chilly Hilly and Raise Funds! It’s a Blast!!!

*Register (cost is $20) with Cascade Bicycle Club—by mail (by Feb. 17) or online (by Feb. 21). More information about the ride and registration can be viewed at CBC’s website: http://www.cascade.org/EandR/chilly/CH.cfm
*Determine whether you want to ride all 33 miles or take a shortcut and ride 20 miles.
*Ask friends and family to pledge an amount for each mile you intend to ride (for example, $1/mile). A pledge sheet is attached.

2) Sponsor One of the Riders—Your Contribution to BTP Is Really Significant!

* If you can't ride, you can sponsor a specific BTP volunteer by pledging directly to that person.
* Or call 442-2013 and mention that you want to sponsor a rider on the Books To Prisoners team for the Chilly Hilly.
* You can also make a donation via the Books To Prisoners website: http://www.bookstoprisoners.net/news.html

3) Tell Your Friends and Family—Encourage Them to Ride or to Sponsor a Rider!

* Spread the word about Books To Prisoners’ fund-raising team on the Chilly Hilly bicycle ride on Sunday February 28—let your friends and family know they can ride on the BTP team or sponsor a BTP team rider.
* Or they can make a donation via the Books To Prisoners website: http://www.bookstoprisoners.net/news.html

Thanks! Your support is vital to prison literacy!!!
