Prison Banned Books Week Bookstore Gift Match, October 21-28

In 1982, Banned Books Week was launched during the first week of October to protest the sharp rise in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores, and libraries. This year, the last week of the month has been designated Prison Banned Books Week (PBBW), to shine a light on the disproportionate role prisons play in book censorship.

In observation of PBBW, we are partnering with these four local bookstores to get some of our most highly requested titles. If you purchase a book to donate to Books to Prisoners from any of their online wishlists or in-store displays of books our readers want most through the end of October, a generous donor will match your gift.

A neighborhood bookstore for Phinney Ridge/Greenwood in Seattle. You can visit the specially marked BtP table at Phinney Books’ storefront in Greenwood at 7405 Greenwood Ave N from 10/21-27 or purchase books online from our wishlist.

Left Bank Books is our long-term partner and the best leftist bookstore around, located at 92 Pike St in the Pike Place Market. Stop by their marked table during #prisonbannedbookweek, or browse their cart of used books to support us year-round.

Check out the BtP wishlist with Queen Anne Book Company. Every book on the list qualifies for the match. or visit at 1811 Queen Anne Ave N.
